INSTRUCTIONS REGARDING THE WOOD BURNING PIZZA OVEN 

There is a handle (key) on top of this fireplace that controls the air circulation in the chimney. It opens the trap inside the chimney if you turn counter clockwise.

Leave it closed except if you light a fire. This way, the house will stay warmer. After using this fireplace, make sure that there is no more heat in the ashes before closing the trap into the chimney. It takes at least 24 hours to die out.

First, light up a few pieces of paper to warm up the chimney. This will make lighting the wood easier and minimize smoke inside the house.

You have 2 choices: Make a simple fire for ambiance or get ready to cook some pizzas.

Ambiance: put 2 or 3 logs between the arches and let them burn progressively.

Pizza cooking: empty oven from all ashes first. Then, light a fire like for ambiance. And when fire is well under way, push the firewood to the center of the oven. It takes 2 hours to heat up the oven correctly for cooking. Then you can push the coals and ashes to the very back of the oven and put the first pizzas in the center of the dome. Make sure you wait until the cheese is golden before moving a pizza.

Kindling can be found at the small grocery store nearby (open until 11 p.m. every evening)

Turning off the kitchen and the bathroom fans will reduce smoke in the house.
