This 150 year-old building is a large
farm house transported from the small village of Saint-Gervais-de-Bellechasse
(150 km from here on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River) and rebuilt in
our village in the summer of 2002. With the Old Rectory, this house is well
suited for large groups, for family, business or friends.
While never used as a true chapel, we
redesigned the building to look like one in order to complete the ambiance of
our village. Mr Jacques White, our architect, created the look of a chapel by
adding elements that we find in a church: a sacristy, rood screen, apses and a
steeple.
The 1,500 square foot foyer (140 m2)
houses a large stone fireplace. The walls and windows in that room, as well as
the front door are authentic from the old farm house. Our "Chapel" easily
accommodates
groups of up to 41 people. It has 9 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. The total
surface area is 5,300 square feet (495 m2). The floor in the
living room is made of massive maple wood.
