OUR RECOMMENDATIONS

Here are a few personal recommendations that we like to offer people visiting our beautiful region.

ALL YEAR LONG (area code: 418)

Atelier Paré (827-3992) : A small museum of local legends. Very interesting. Francoise, the owner, gives an excellent presentation...

Musée de l’Abeille ( route 138) (824-4411): Very lively and interesting small museum about bees ! Kids (and parents) love it. Free local honey wine tasting on the premises. Don’t miss the presentation given by Redmond Hayes during the Summer.

Village vacances Valcartier : Waterslides in the Summer and snowrafting in the Winter. Perfect all year long for families. Everybody enjoy it !

Chute-Montmorency (663-2877) : This waterfall, higher than Niagara Falls, is worth a visit all year long.

Musée de la Civilisation (643-2877) : One of the most interesting human history museums in Canada, located by the waterfront.

Ferry to Lévis : Take this ferry across the St.Lawrence River for the best view of Quebec City. No car !

Quartier Petit-Champlain : The oldest business district in America, near the waterfront in Old Quebec City.

Avenue Royale from Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré to Montmorency Falls: The oldest road in North America ! Dates back to the foundation of Quebec City in 1608.

Route 362 between Baie-Saint-Paul and La Malbaie : It is a must to take this road along the St.Lawrence River. If you have time, take the ferry to Ile-aux-Coudres.

Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré Basilica (827-3781) : The second largest church in North America ! The largest is in New York City. Call for service hours.

Mont-Sainte-Anne Art Gallery(827-4433) : My friend Giovanni has produced some very beautiful works of the Mont-Sainte-Anne area. He also has a beautiful house!

Imax Cinema at Galeries de la Capitale (624-4629): The largest screen in Canada and it is adjacent to a very large shopping center. Excellent for rainy days.

The Casino of Charlevoix  (1 800 665-2274) : Located about 1 hour from our houses, this casino is located next to famous Hotel Manoir Richelieu and next to a breathtaking golf course.

DURING SUMMER

Whale-watching at Tadoussac (1 800 563-4643) : Best in August but at any time, you will see a lot of whales very close to your boat.

Lac des Cygnes Mountain: Very nice trail for families. Dramatic view of the Laurentians and of the Charlevoix meteorite ! Free access past St.-Urbain, near Baie-Saint-Paul.

Grands-Jardins : Next to Lac des Cygnes, guided excursions in the forest searching for caribou.

Hautes-Gorges of Malbaie River : A spectacular fjord valley ! The " Bateau-Mouche " boat goes up the valley between the mountains. Canoe rental on the premises.

Cap-Tourmente (827-4591) : The Great White Geese lookout area in the Spring and in the Fall. Interpretation Center from early May to the end of October.

Jean-Larose Falls : Very close to your house, within walking distance. Magnificent set of three waterfalls at the foot of which you can swim and have a picnic.

Sept-Chutes (826-3139) : Impressive waterfalls on the Sainte-Anne River, 15 minutes from your house. Interpretation center, water- park for kids, picnic area and an old hydro-electric power plant.

The trail ''Sentier des Caps of Charlevoix''  in the summertime (1 866 823-1117): Beautiful 51 km hiking trail connecting Cap-Tourmente to the Massif along the St-Lawrence River on top of mountains. Hiking can be done by section and not necessarily as a whole. 6 nicely located log shelters offer you a breathtaking view on the St-Lawrence River. Unique!

DURING WINTER
